Applications are accepted Monday through Friday. Contact the office at (989) 781-0516 to schedule an appointment to complete the application process in person. 

The application window for the 2026 Apprenticeship Class is now open, and you can complete your application in person through February 27, 2026.

Required Documents:

 - Official Transcript* - Transcripts need to be dispatched directly from the High School or College to the Union Hall.  Please request the issuing institution to email the transcript to: renee@ibew557.org

      *Math Requirement - see below   

 - Birth Certificate - Applicants are required to be 18 years of age or older.

 - High School Diploma or GED

 - Valid Driver’s License 

 - Application Fee - $25        

Math Requirement

High School transcripts must include two semesters of Algebra with a minimum grade of "C".

 Or 

College transcripts require at least one Algebra course completed with a minimum grade of "C".

Or

Complete the NJATC Online Tech Math Course successfully.

• All applicants meeting the minimum application requirements will receive an aptitude test.
• All applicants receiving a passing score on the aptitude test will receive an interview with The Saginaw Electrical Apprenticeship Committee.
• Interview scores will then be tabulated and ranked for selection with all other available candidates. These scores will be valid for a period of two (2) years after the initial interview is completed.
• If not selected after your initial interview, you may submit a request for a re-interview the following year.  Further training or schooling for the re-interview is highly encouraged.

• It is program policy to complete a drug screen upon being selected into the program.
